How to fold an origami little beehive
Slanted folds taper a diamond into a dome, then two pleats at the top step it in band by band like a coiled straw beehive.
You need: 1 square sheet, yellow or honey-coloured on one side. Easy, 7 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Slant the sides. Put the square coloured side up like a diamond. Fold the left and right corners behind on slanted lines, so the hive gets narrower towards the top.
- Flat bottom. Fold the bottom corner behind along a straight line across, where the slanted sides end.
- Top behind. Fold the top corner behind along a straight line across, a little above the middle.
- And back up. Behind, fold it back up a little lower, so a narrower band steps in above the one below.
- Top behind again. Fold the top behind again along a straight line across, higher up.
- And back up. Behind, fold it back up a little lower, so a narrower band steps in above the one below.
- Round the top. Fold the tip behind along a straight line across, so the hive has a flat top.
Buzzing home!
Draw a dark arched door at the bottom and a few straw lines. Fold some paper bees and flowers to buzz around it.
