How to fold an origami little trumpet
Fold a long strip in half and slim it to a cone, then bend the thin end round in a loop so the wide end is the bell.
You need: 1 long strip of paper (about 27 x 6 cm), gold or yellow on one side. Easy, 7 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- In half. Start white side up, the strip lying long. Fold it in half the long way, bottom up to the top.
- Slim it. Fold both long edges behind on slanted lines, so the band is thin at the left end and wide at the right end.
- Flare the bell. Behind, fold the end corner of each slim flap back out on a long slant from the band's corner, so the wide end flares out like a bell.
- Back bow. A third of the way from the wide end, fold the thin part down on a slant so it points down.
- Along the bottom. A little lower, fold it on a slant again so it runs to the right, under the bell pipe.
- Front bow. Under the bell, fold it up on a slant so it points up.
- Mouthpiece. Halfway up, fold it on a slant so the thin end runs back to the left and pokes out past the back bow.
Ta-ra-ra!
Draw three valves on top of the pipe. Blow a fanfare through the mouthpiece!
