How to fold an origami bell pepper
Fold a red square in quarters and snip two little notches, then open it: the bottom edge now has bumpy lobes. Round the shoulders and add a short green stem.
You need: 1 red square, 1 small green square, scissors, a glue stick and a white pen. Medium, 11 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Start with the red square, red side up. Fold the left edge over to the right edge.
- Fold in half again. Fold the right edge over to the left edge, to make a tall thin strip.
- Snip the notches. At the bottom of the strip, cut a small slanted snip off each bottom corner, through all the layers.
- Open it. Unfold the last fold.
- Open it again. Unfold the square. Its bottom edge has three notches now: four bumpy lobes.
- Slant the sides. Fold the left and right sides behind on a slant, from a little above the middle down to the bottom, so it narrows a little.
- Fold the shoulders. Fold the two top corners behind, big folds, down to where the slants start.
- Round the shoulders. Fold the four new corners on the shoulders behind, just a tiny bit each.
- Stem: new sheet. Set the pepper aside. Take the small green square, green side up.
- Stem: slant the sides. Fold the left and right sides behind on a slant, from the bottom corners up to near the middle of the top, so it is thin at the top.
- Glue on the stem. Glue the pepper behind the stem, so the wide green bottom sits on the middle of the top.
Crunchy!
The creases from folding in quarters run down to the notches, like the grooves of a real pepper. Add a white shine.
