How to fold an origami pea pod
A long green strip folds into a pointy pod, a smaller strip turned white side up makes the open inside, and four tiny squares fold into round peas in a row.
You need: 2 green strips (3 times as long as wide, one smaller), 4 tiny light green squares, glue and pens. Medium, 14 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Pod: make pointy ends. Start with the long green strip lying down, green side up. Fold all four corners behind on long slants, so each end comes to a point.
- Pod: round it. Fold the four corners where the slants meet the long edges behind, just a little, so the pod is smooth.
- Inside: new sheet. Set the pod aside. Take the smaller green strip, white side up.
- Inside: make pointy ends. Fold its four corners behind on long slants, just like the pod.
- Inside: round it. Fold the four new corners behind a little.
- Pea 1: new sheet. Set it aside. Take a tiny light green square, green side up.
- Pea 1: round it. Fold all four corners behind to make a round pea.
- Pea 2: new sheet. Set it aside and take the next tiny square.
- Pea 2: round it. Fold its four corners behind too.
- Pea 3: new sheet. Set it aside and take the next tiny square.
- Pea 3: round it. Fold its four corners behind too.
- Pea 4: new sheet. Set it aside and take the next tiny square.
- Pea 4: round it. Fold its four corners behind too.
- Fill the pod. Glue the white inside on the pod, so a green rim shows all round, then the four peas in a row along it.
Peas in a pod!
Give each pea a little white shine, and draw a curly tendril at one end.
