How to fold an origami cucumber

A dark green half square folds into a long, rounded cucumber. Two more squares stack into a slice with a dark skin and pale middle. Dot on the bumps and seeds.

You need: Half a dark green square (cut long), 2 small squares: dark green and pale green, a glue stick and pens. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.

Steps

  1. Cucumber: make it slim. Start with the long strip lying down, green side up. Fold the top and bottom edges behind, so it is long and slim.
  2. Cucumber: round the ends. Fold all four corners behind a little, to round off both ends.
  3. Slice: skin. Set the cucumber aside. Take the small dark green square, green side up.
  4. Slice: round the skin. Fold all four corners behind to make it round.
  5. Slice: middle. Set it aside. Take the pale green square, coloured side up.
  6. Slice: round the middle. Fold all four corners behind, just like the skin.
  7. Put it together. Glue the pale circle on the dark one, so a green ring shows all round. Lay the cucumber on a slant just above the slice.

Cool as a cucumber!

Dot white bumps along the cucumber and draw a ring of little seeds in the middle of the slice.
