How to fold an origami birdhouse
Fold a square into a house with a pointed top, a second square into a red roof and a brown strip into a pole. Glue them up and draw a round hole and a perch for the birds.
You need: 1 teal square, 1 smaller red square, 1 brown strip, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- House: narrow it. Take the teal square, coloured side up. Fold the left and right edges a little behind.
- House: pointed top. Fold the two top corners behind on slants that meet at the top. Now it's a house shape.
- Roof: new square. Set the house aside. Take the red square, white side up, like a diamond.
- Roof: fold in half. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner. Now it's a red triangle roof.
- Pole: new strip. Set the roof aside. Take the brown strip, white side up, standing tall.
- Pole: fold in half. Fold it in half the long way, left edge over to the right edge.
- Glue it together. Glue the house on top of the pole, then the roof over the house's pointed top so it hangs over both sides.
