How to fold an origami garden gnome
Snip a red triangle into a tall pointed hat, fold a peach square so a white beard frames the face, and fold a blue coat that widens to the bottom. Glue the gnome together and draw the face.
You need: 1 big red square, 1 peach square, 1 blue rectangle, scissors, a glue stick and a black and a white pen. Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Hat: fold in half. Take the red square, white side up, like a diamond. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner.
- Hat: snip it tall. Snip from the top point down to the bottom edge on each side, cutting off the side corners. Now the hat is tall and thin.
- Coat: new sheet. Set the hat aside. Take the blue rectangle, blue side up, lying long ways.
- Coat: slope the sides. Fold the left and right sides behind on slants, from near the middle of the top edge to the bottom corners.
- Face: new square. Set the coat aside. Take the peach square, white side up, like a diamond.
- Face and beard. Fold the top corner down to just below the middle. The peach triangle is the face, and the white all round it is the beard.
- Beard: slim it. Fold the left and right corners behind, so the beard hangs straight down from the face.
- Glue it together. Glue the coat behind the beard, then the hat over the top of the face, low enough to hide the top edge.
Hello, gnome!
Draw two eyes, a round nose and a smile in the beard. Add a black belt with a white buckle and two black boots.
