How to fold an origami bow tie
Fold a square into a long band, snip and pinch its middle by folding the inner corners behind, then glue a little folded knot on top. Dot it with white spots.
You need: A 15 cm square and a 4 cm square of the same colour, white on the back, scissors and a glue stick. Medium, 10 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Make a band. White side up. Fold the top and bottom edges to the middle.
- Turn it over. Flip it over, so the smooth side faces you.
- Fold in half. Fold the right edge over onto the left edge.
- Open it again. Unfold it, leaving a crease down the middle.
- Snip the middle. Snip a little way along the middle crease from the top edge and from the bottom edge, about 2 cm each.
- Pinch the middle. Fold the four corners by the snips behind on a slant, from the outer corners to the ends of the snips. The middle gets narrow.
- Knot: new sheet. Set the bow aside. Take the little square, white side up.
- Knot: sides to the middle. Fold the left and right edges to the middle.
- Knot: turn it over. Flip the knot over.
- Add the knot. Glue the knot over the narrow middle of the bow.
Very smart!
Draw white polka dots with a gel pen, or leave it plain. Tape it to a shirt collar or a teddy's neck.
