How to fold an origami skirt
A white strip makes the waistband, then four pleats, each a fold and a fold back, are wider at the top than at the hem, so the skirt flares out.
You need: 1 square sheet, any size. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Fold the waistband. Start coloured side up. Fold a thin strip at the top down to show a white waistband.
- Fold the outer pleats. Fold each side in, straight up and down, about a fifth of the way from the edge.
- Fold them back. Fold each flap back out, a finger's width in from its fold at the top but only a little at the bottom, so the pleat tapers.
- Left inner pleat. Fold the whole left side over, straight up and down, a little left of the middle.
- Fold it back. Fold it back out the same way as before: a finger's width from the fold at the top, less at the bottom.
- Right inner pleat. Now fold the whole right side over the same way, a little right of the middle.
- Fold it back. Fold it back out, wider at the top than at the bottom, to finish the last pleat.
Twirl time!
Draw a button on the waistband. Fold a T-shirt to go with it, or make a row of skirts in every colour.
