How to fold an origami bucket
Fold the sides of a red square behind on slants so it tapers to a narrow base, and fold the top edge down as a white rim. A grey strip bent in two places is the handle.
You need: 1 red square (15 cm), 1 grey strip (17 × 3 cm) and glue. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- White rim. Red side up, fold the top edge down about 1.5 cm, so a white band shows. That's the rim.
- Taper the sides. Fold the left and right edges behind on slants: a little at the top, more at the bottom, so the bucket narrows down to its base.
- Round the base. Fold the two bottom corners behind a little, so the base is rounded.
- Handle: new strip. Set the bucket aside. Take the grey strip, grey side up, long sides level.
- Handle: narrow it. Fold the top and bottom edges behind so they nearly meet in the middle, making a thin, sturdy strip.
- Handle: bend the ends. Fold each end down on a slant, about 4.5 cm from the middle, so the strip makes an arch with legs splaying out a little.
- Glue on the handle. Glue the ends of the handle behind the top corners of the bucket, so the arch stands up above the rim.
Ready for the beach
Fill it with paper shells, or fold a little spade to go with it.
