How to fold an origami cherry blossom
Fold a pink square into a slim point like a starfish, snip a tiny V at the tip and round the edge, then open it: five round petals, each with a notch.
You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm), pink on one side, scissors, a ruler and a black pen. Medium, 10 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Pink side up, fold the top edge down to the bottom edge. The middle of the fold is the centre of the blossom.
- Fold the left side over. Fold from the centre down to a point on the bottom edge 2.4 cm left of its middle, bringing the left part over to the right.
- Fold the right side over. Fold the right part over along the edge of the flap you just made, so it lies on top.
- Fold the point in half. Fold the left half of the point over onto the right half, lining up the edges.
- Cut the petals. On the left edge 6.5 cm from the point, snip a tiny V into the tip. Then cut in a round curve to the right edge, 1.2 cm from the point.
- Unfold. Unfold the last fold.
- Unfold again. Unfold the right part.
- And again. Unfold the left part.
- Open it flat. Unfold the top half. Five petals with a notch in each!
- Turn it upright. Turn the blossom so one petal points straight up.
Sakura!
Draw five stamens from the middle with a dot on each end. Make a branch full of them for spring.
