How to fold an origami lotus
Fold three pink kites into pointed petals, round a green rectangle into a lily pad, and glue the petals on in layers.
You need: Three pink squares (10, 10 and 13 cm), a green 24 × 9 cm rectangle, glue and a black pen. Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Petal: fold a kite. Pink side up, turn a small square like a diamond. Fold the top edges behind to the middle line, and the bottom point behind.
- Second petal. Set it aside. Take the other small pink square, pink side up, like a diamond.
- Fold it the same. Fold it the same way: top edges behind to the middle line, then the bottom point behind.
- Big middle petal. Set it aside. Take the bigger pink square, pink side up, like a diamond.
- Fold it the same. Fold this one the same way too. It is the tall petal in the middle.
- Lily pad: new sheet. Set it aside. Take the green rectangle, green side up, long edges at the top and bottom.
- Lily pad: round it. Fold all four corners behind, a big bit each, so the pad is a wide oval.
- Glue the lotus together. Glue the two small petals on the pad, leaning out to each side, then the big petal standing up between them.
Peaceful lotus!
Draw a line up the middle of each petal and a few lines on the pad.
