How to fold an origami corn on the cob
A yellow half square folds into a long rounded cob, and a green square folds into three husk leaves that hug its bottom. Draw the grid of kernels.
You need: Half a yellow square (cut long), 1 green square a bit smaller, a glue stick and a black pen. Easy, 6 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Cob: slant the sides. Start with the yellow strip standing up, yellow side up. Fold the left and right sides behind on a slant, so the top gets narrower.
- Cob: round the ends. Fold the two top corners and the two bottom corners behind a little.
- Husk: new sheet. Set the cob aside. Take the green square, white side up, like a diamond.
- Husk: make a triangle. Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner.
- Husk: fold the leaves up. Fold the left and right corners up, creasing from just beside the middle of the bottom edge, so they point up and lean out.
- Glue on the cob. Glue the cob behind the husk, so the leaves wrap around its bottom and the yellow sticks up.
Pop, pop, corn!
Draw rows of little lines across the yellow and a few lines down it, to make a grid of kernels.
