How to fold an origami monster corner bookmark

The classic corner bookmark: a triangle with a pocket that slips over the corner of a page. The side corners fold behind to poke up as horns, and the pocket becomes a big mouth.

You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm. Easy, 3 steps, about 3 minutes.

Steps

  1. Make a triangle. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner.
  2. Make the pocket. Fold only the front layer of the top corner down to the middle of the bottom edge. This flap is the pocket and the mouth.
  3. Fold the horns. Fold each side corner behind and up, a little past the top point, so the tips stick up above the head as horns.

Chomp!

Draw two big eyes above the mouth and white fangs on the flap. Slide the pocket over the corner of a page to keep your place.

How to use it

  1. Open the mouth flap a little.
  2. Slide it over the top corner of the page you're reading.
  3. Close the book: the monster keeps your place.
