How to fold an origami popcorn
Fold the sides of a red square in to make a striped box. Snip the top of a folded yellow sheet into puffs and tuck it behind the box.
You need: 1 square sheet, red on one side, a smaller pale yellow sheet, and scissors. Medium, 10 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Stripes. Box first. White side up, fold the left and right edges in, leaving a white stripe down the middle between two red ones.
- Top behind. Fold the top edge behind, about a third of the way down.
- Taper the box. Fold a thin slice off each side behind, wide at the bottom and nothing at the top, so the box gets narrower downwards.
- Popcorn: new sheet. Set the box aside. Take the pale yellow paper, a bit wider than the box and much less tall, long side across.
- In half. Fold the right edge over to the left edge.
- In half again. Fold the left edge over to the right edge. Now it's a narrow stack.
- Round the top. Snip both top corners of the stack round, through all the layers. Snip a little off both bottom corners too.
- Open once. Unfold the last fold.
- Open it all. Unfold the first fold too. The top edge is a row of popcorn puffs!
- Fill the box. Glue the box over the popcorn, so the puffs pop out over the top.
