How to fold an origami dinosaur

Fold a long diamond and fold it in half: one point folds up as the long neck, its tip folds down as the head, and the other point is the tail. A folded strip adds the legs.

You need: 1 square sheet 15 cm wide, green on one side, a green strip 15 × 3 cm, and a glue stick. Medium, 12 steps, about 8 minutes.

Steps

  1. Body: crease. Start with the body. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
  2. Body: make a kite. Fold the two lower edges in to lie along the centre crease.
  3. Body: narrow diamond. Fold the two upper edges in to the centre crease too, making a long diamond with a point at each end.
  4. Body: fold in half. Fold the left half behind the right half.
  5. Body: lay it down. Turn it so the fold is at the bottom.
  6. Body: fold up the neck. Fold the left point up on a slanted crease that starts on the bottom edge right under the hump, so it stands up almost straight as the neck.
  7. Body: fold down the head. Fold the tip of the neck forward and a little down to make the head.
  8. Body: blunt the nose. Snip the very tip off the head, straight across, so the nose is blunt.
  9. Legs: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take the strip, white side up.
  10. Legs: fold in half. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, bottom edge up to the top edge.
  11. Legs: fold down the ends. Fold each end straight down on a slanted crease that starts on the top edge 2.5 cm from the middle, so the ends hang down as legs.
  12. Glue on the legs. Glue the body over the legs so the strip between them hides behind the body, the front leg under the neck.

Stomp stomp!

Draw an eye and a smile on the little head.
