How to fold an origami duckling

A round yellow body with a perky tail, a round head, a little orange bill and orange legs opened into a walking step with feet turned forward.

You need: A yellow square, a smaller yellow square for the head, two small orange strips for the bill and legs, and glue. Medium, 15 steps, about 12 minutes.

Steps

  1. Body: corners to the middle. Start with the body. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
  2. Body: turn it over. Flip it over so the smooth yellow side faces you.
  3. Body: keep a tail. Fold the top, right and bottom points behind. Leave the left point sticking out: that's the tail.
  4. Head: smaller square. Set the body aside. Take the smaller yellow square, white side up.
  5. Head: corners to the middle. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
  6. Head: turn it over. Flip it over so the smooth coloured side faces you.
  7. Head: round it off. Fold all four points behind, so the head is round.
  8. Bill: orange strip. Set the head aside. Take the short orange strip, white side up.
  9. Bill: fold it in half. Fold the top edge down to the bottom edge.
  10. Bill: round the tip. Fold the two corners at the right end behind, just a little, so the bill has a soft round tip.
  11. Legs: long orange strip. Set the bill aside. Take the long orange strip, white side up, standing tall.
  12. Legs: fold it in half. Fold the strip in half the long way, so it is thin and orange on both sides.
  13. Legs: take a step. Fold the top half down on a slant through the middle, so the two legs open like a walking step.
  14. Legs: feet forward. Fold the end of each leg forward on a slant, so both little feet point to the right.
  15. Glue it together. Glue the body over the top of the legs, tipped so the tail points up. Glue the head on its front and the bill behind the head.

Quack, quack!

Draw a shiny eye and a wing on its side.
