How to fold an origami piglet

A pink head with floppy ears and a darker round snout sits on a round tummy, with two little trotters below and a strip curled into a spiral tail.

You need: Two pink squares, a small dark pink square for the snout, two thin pink strips for the tail and legs, and glue. Medium, 20 steps, about 14 minutes.

Steps

  1. Head: make a triangle. Start with the head. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.
  2. Head: floppy ears. Fold the left and right corners down at a slant so they flop forward like piggy ears.
  3. Head: round chin. Fold the bottom tip behind so the chin is round. The head is done.
  4. Snout: small square. Set the head aside. Take the small dark pink square, white side up.
  5. Snout: corners to the middle. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
  6. Snout: turn it over. Flip it over so the smooth coloured side faces you.
  7. Snout: round it off. Fold all four points behind, so the snout is a wide oval.
  8. Tail: thin strip. Set the snout aside. Take the thinnest pink strip, white side up, standing tall.
  9. Tail: fold it in half. Fold the strip in half the long way, so it is thin and pink on both sides.
  10. Tail: first curl. Fold the top end over on a slant so it points to the right.
  11. Tail: second curl. Fold the end down on a slant.
  12. Tail: last curl. Fold the tip to the left on a slant, so the tail curls round like a spiral.
  13. Legs: pink strip. Set the tail aside. Take the other pink strip, white side up.
  14. Legs: fold it in half. Fold the strip in half the long way, top edge down to the bottom edge, so it is thin and coloured on both sides.
  15. Legs: bend the legs down. Fold each end straight down, a little way from the middle, to make two short trotters.
  16. Body: new sheet. Set the legs aside. Take the second pink square, white side up.
  17. Body: corners to the middle. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
  18. Body: turn it over. Flip it over so the smooth coloured side faces you.
  19. Body: round it off. Fold all four points behind, so the tummy is round.
  20. Glue it together. Glue the head on top of the body and the snout on the face. Glue the tail and the legs behind, so they peek out.

Oink, oink!

Draw two eyes, two big nostrils on the snout and dark hooves on the trotters.
