How to fold an origami eggplant
A purple square folds into a long kite with a fat rounded bottom, a small green square makes the droopy cap, and a little strip makes the stem. It leans like it's taking a nap.
You need: 1 purple square, 1 green square half as wide, a thin green strip, and a glue stick. Medium, 10 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Body: make a kite. Start with the purple square, purple side up, like a diamond. Fold the two upper edges behind to meet along the middle.
- Body: round the bottom. Fold the bottom point behind, and the two side corners behind a little.
- Body: round it more. Fold the two corners at the bottom behind, just a tiny bit.
- Stem: new strip. Set the body aside. Take the thin green strip, white side up, standing up.
- Stem: fold in half. Fold the left edge over to the right edge.
- Cap: new sheet. Set the stem aside. Take the small green square, white side up, like a diamond.
- Cap: make a triangle. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.
- Cap: fold the sides down. Fold the left and right corners down, creasing from just beside the middle of the top edge, so they hang down beside the middle point.
- Put it together. Glue the body's narrow tip and the stem behind the cap, so the cap droops over the purple and the stem pokes out on top.
- Let it lean. Tip the eggplant over to one side, so it lies on a slant.
Purple and proud!
Add a long white shine down one side with a gel pen.
