How to fold an origami fork
Fold the head into a narrow stack and snip two slim slivers through it: open it out and four tines appear. Taper the neck and glue it onto a long folded handle.
You need: A 6 x 11 cm sheet and a 4 x 18 cm strip of silver or grey paper, scissors and glue. Medium, 11 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Head: fold in half. Head first. Stand the small sheet tall, grey side up. Fold the left edge over onto the right edge.
- Head: in half again. Fold the right edges over onto the left fold. Now it is a narrow stack, four layers thick.
- Head: snip the tines. Cut a long thin sliver off each side, from 5.5 cm down the side up to 5 mm in at the top. Cut through all the layers.
- Head: open out. Unfold the last fold.
- Head: open flat. Unfold the first fold too. Four tines stand up at the top!
- Head: slim the neck. Fold the bottom corners behind on a slant, from 7.5 cm down each side to 6 mm either side of the middle.
- Handle: new sheet. Set the head aside. Take the long strip, white side up, standing tall.
- Handle: edges to the middle. Fold the left and right edges in to meet on the middle line, and glue them flat.
- Handle: slim the top. Fold both long edges behind on a long slant, from halfway down to 6 mm from the middle at the top. The handle gets slimmer upwards.
- Handle: round the end. Fold the two bottom corners behind a little to round the end.
- Glue it together. Glue the head's neck over the top of the handle, about 2 cm down, so the fork is one long piece.
Dinner time!
Draw a long white shine down the handle so it looks like real silver. Spear a paper pea!
