How to fold an origami frog
Pop two flaps of a triangle up into bulging eyes and snip them round, then fold the bottom point up so the white side makes a pale tummy. Fold a second triangle into back legs.
You need: 2 squares, green on one side and white on the other (15 cm and 13 cm), glue and a black pen. Medium, 13 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Body: a triangle. Start with the big square, white side up, like a diamond. Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
- Body: corners down. Fold the left and right corners down to meet the bottom point.
- Body: eyes up. Fold each flap up from its outer corner so its point stands straight up above the top.
- Body: round the eyes. Snip the tip of each eye off round: one snip straight across 2 cm from the tip, then a small snip on each corner.
- Body: flat head. Fold the top point down between the eyes, with the flap corners lying on it.
- Body: turn it over. Flip it over from side to side. The smooth side is the frog's front.
- Body: pale tummy. Fold the front layer's bottom point up, 3.7 cm from the tip, so its white side shows. Fold the back layer's point up behind.
- Body: round the tummy. Snip the white point round, the same way as the eyes: straight across 1.7 cm from the tip, then the two corners.
- Legs: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take the smaller green square, white side up, like a diamond.
- Legs: a triangle. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner. The long fold at the bottom is where the frog sits.
- Legs: top behind. Fold the top point behind, about halfway down, so it will hide behind the body.
- Legs: feet up. Fold the tip of each side corner up and out, 2.3 cm from the tip, so the feet turn up like a frog's.
- Glue it together. Glue the legs behind the body, so the feet stick out on both sides at the bottom.
Ribbit!
Draw big round eyes, two dots for nostrils and a wide smile. Add a few darker spots on its back if you like.
