How to fold an origami puffin
Fold the sides of a black square past the middle for the wings and collar, leaving a white face and tummy. Add a big orange beak and two orange feet.
You need: A 15 cm square, black on one side, two small orange squares (5.5 and 6 cm) and a glue stick. Medium, 8 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Body: wings in. White side up, like a diamond. Fold the left and right corners in so each goes 2 cm past the middle. The black overlap is the collar.
- Body: flat top and bottom. Fold the top and bottom points behind, about 3 cm from each tip.
- Beak: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take the smaller orange square, white side up, like a diamond.
- Beak: triangle. Fold the top corner down onto the bottom corner.
- Beak: narrow it. Fold the left and right corners behind, 2 cm from the middle, so the beak is tall and pointed.
- Feet: new sheet. Set the beak aside. Take the other orange square, orange side up, like a diamond.
- Feet: flatten. Fold the top and bottom corners behind so they meet in the middle, making a wide flat strip.
- Glue it together. Glue the feet behind the bottom of the body so they peek out below. Glue the beak in the middle of the white face, point down.
Puff puff!
Colour a black cap on top of the head. Draw two eyes beside the beak, white stripes across the beak and a line between the feet.
