How to fold an origami garden snail
Round a square into a shell with corner folds. The strip folded behind is snipped free and swung out as the long foot, and its pointed end folds up as the head.
You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm), orange-brown on one side, scissors and a black pen. Medium, 6 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Strip behind. Coloured side up, fold the bottom edge behind about 2 cm.
- Roll it again. Fold the strip behind once more, so it is twice as thick. This strip will be the foot.
- Round the shell. Fold the top two corners behind a lot and the bottom left corner a little, so the shell is round.
- Snip the foot free. Snip along the bottom fold from about a quarter of the way in from the left to the right end, so most of the strip behind comes loose.
- Foot out. Fold the loose strip over to the left behind the shell, on a crease at the end of the snip, so it sticks far out on the left.
- Head up. Fold the end of the foot straight up on a slanted crease, so the head stands up. Fold the shell's last corner behind.
Slow and steady
Draw a spiral on the shell and an eye near the top of the head.
