How to fold an origami housefly
Roll the sides of a dark square in as white strips, snip their lower parts free and swing them out as wings. A pointed tummy and big eyes finish the fly.
You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm), dark grey on one side and white on the other, scissors and a white pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Top behind. Dark side up, fold the top edge behind about 4 cm.
- Roll the sides. Fold the left and right edges in about 2 cm. The white side shows.
- Roll again. Fold them in once more, so each side is a thick white strip.
- Snip the wings free. Snip along the outer fold of each strip from the bottom edge up to a little above the middle.
- Wings out. Fold each loose strip out on a slant from the inner end of the snip, so it sweeps back from the body as a wing.
- Shape head and tummy. Fold the top corners behind a little for a round head, and the bottom corners behind on long slants so the tummy ends in a point.
- Round the wings. Fold the two corners at the end of each wing behind, so the wing tips are round.
