How to fold an origami glasses
Fold two lenses with a thin dark rim round a white middle, then a long frame strip with bent arms. Glue the lenses on the strip and the glasses are ready to wear on a card.
You need: Two 7.5 cm squares and a 2 x 21 cm strip, all dark on one side and white on the other, and a glue stick. Medium, 11 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Lens: side rims. Start with a lens, white side up. Fold the left and right edges in by a thin strip, about 5 mm.
- Lens: top and bottom rims. Fold the top and bottom edges in by the same thin strip. Now a dark rim runs all round the white lens.
- Lens: round it. Fold the four corners in a little, so the lens has eight sides and looks round.
- Second lens: new sheet. Set the lens aside. Take the second square, white side up.
- Second lens: rims. Fold all four edges in by the same thin strip as before: left and right first, then top and bottom.
- Second lens: top and bottom. Fold the top and bottom edges in too.
- Second lens: round it. Fold the four corners in a little, just like the first lens.
- Frame: new strip. Set the second lens aside. Take the long strip, white side up, lying across.
- Frame: fold in half. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, top edge down to the bottom edge, so it is dark on both sides.
- Frame: bend the arms. Fold each end down on a slant, about 8 cm from the middle, so the arms point down and out like they hook over your ears.
- Glue the lenses on. Glue the two lenses side by side on the frame, the strip running across their tops. The bit of strip between them is the bridge.
Looking sharp!
Glue them on a card face, or tape them to a teddy. Add two little nose pads with a pen if you like.
