How to fold an origami hamster
Fold the diamond in half and snip a little V for the ears. Open it, fold the bottom corner up as a white tummy, then tuck the sides and corners behind so he comes out round.
You need: 1 square sheet, golden orange on one side and white on the other, and scissors. Easy, 7 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Golden side up, turned like a diamond. Fold the left corner over to the right corner.
- Snip the ears. Cut the top point off on a slant, from the fold a third of the way down up to the top edge. Snip the new corner off a little.
- Open it. Unfold it. Now there are two little ears with a dip between them.
- Blunt the tip. Fold the very tip of the bottom corner up, about 1.6 cm.
- White tummy. Fold the bottom corner up on a level line, so the white tip ends a little below the middle. The white part is the tummy.
- Sides behind. Fold the left and right corners behind, about 3.5 cm each, so the sides are straight.
- Round him off. Fold the corners at the cheeks, the hips and the feet a little way behind, so the hamster looks soft and round.
Squeak squeak!
Draw two shiny eyes, a tiny nose and whiskers. Add round cheek pouches, the insides of the ears, little paws on the tummy and two feet.
