How to fold an origami little harp

Fold a long strip into a thin band, then bend it twice into a harp frame: a tall pillar, a neck across the top and a slanting soundbox.

You need: 1 long strip of paper (about 4 x 33 cm), gold or brown on one side. Easy, 4 steps, about 5 minutes.

Steps

  1. Edges to the middle. Start white side up, the strip lying long. Fold both long edges in so they meet in the middle.
  2. In half. Fold it in half the long way, bottom up to the top, to make a thin band.
  3. The pillar. A third of the way from the left end, fold the left part down on a slant so it hangs straight down: the pillar.
  4. The soundbox. A short way along the top (the neck), fold the rest down on a slant so it runs back to the foot of the pillar.

Strum the strings!

Draw strings from the neck down to the soundbox. Pluck them softly and play a lullaby.
