How to fold an origami little trombone
Fold a long strip in half, slim it and flare one end, then bend it round twice: once behind the bell and once at the end of the long slide.
You need: 1 long strip of paper (about 30 x 5 cm), gold or yellow on one side. Easy, 7 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- In half. Start white side up, the strip lying long. Fold it in half the long way, bottom up to the top.
- Slim it. Fold both long edges behind on slanted lines, so the band is wide at the left end and thin at the right end.
- Flare the bell. Behind, fold the end corner of each slim flap back out on a long slant from the band's corner, so the wide end flares out like a bell.
- Back bow. A third of the way from the bell, fold the thin part down on a slant so it points down.
- The slide. A little lower, fold it on a slant so it runs back to the left, under the bell and well past it.
- Slide's end. Near the end, fold it down on a slant so it points down.
- Back along. A little lower, fold it on a slant so the thin end runs back to the right under the slide.
Slide and blow!
Hold the bell pipe still and slide the long loop in and out as you play: wah-wah!
