How to fold an origami headphones
Fold two red ear cups with a white cushion edge, bend a dark strip into an arched headband, and glue the cups onto its ends.
You need: Two 6 cm squares, red on one side, a 5 x 22 cm strip of dark grey paper and a glue stick. Medium, 11 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Cup: cushion. Start with a red square, red side up. Fold the right edge over a narrow strip, so a white cushion shows on the inside edge.
- Cup: round it. Fold all four corners behind, the outer ones a bit more.
- Second cup. Set it aside. Take the other red square, red side up.
- Cup: cushion. This time fold the left edge over a narrow strip for the cushion.
- Cup: round it. Fold all four corners behind, the outer ones a bit more.
- Band: new strip. Set the cups aside. Take the dark strip, white side up, long edges at the top and bottom.
- Band: edges in. Fold both long edges in to meet in the middle.
- Band: in half. Fold the bottom edge up to the top edge: a thin dark band.
- Band: bend the ends. Fold each end down a little, on a slanted line a short way from the middle, so the band starts to arch.
- Band: and again. Fold each end again a little further along, so both ends point straight down.
- Glue on the cups. Glue an ear cup over each end of the band, white cushions facing each other.
