How to fold an origami rocking chair
Fold a long strip into a thick bar, then steer it with folds: along the seat, down the front leg, out and back along the rocker and up the tall back. The rocker's tips curl up.
You need: 1 brown strip, 30 x 3 cm (cut from the long side of an A4 sheet). Medium, 8 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. White side up, fold the top edge down onto the bottom edge.
- In half again. Fold the bottom edge up onto the top edge: a long, thin brown bar.
- Seat and front leg. About 4 cm from the left end, fold the rest of the bar straight down with a 45-degree fold: the seat and the front leg.
- Rocker. About 3 cm down, fold the end out to the right with a 45-degree fold.
- Back along the rocker. About 2.5 cm along, fold the end back to the left, on top.
- Rocker's back end. About 8.5 cm along, fold the end back to the right again, on top: a long rocker.
- Up the back. Where the seat ends above, fold the end up with a slanted fold, so it leans back a little: the tall back.
- Curl the rockers. Fold both ends of the rocker up on a slant, so it curves like a smile.
