How to fold an origami knight helmet
A tall grey helm with a rounded top, and a red kite folded into a plume that rises from behind it. Draw the visor slits and breathing holes.
You need: A 15 cm grey or silver square and an 8 cm red square, white on the back, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 9 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Helm: sides behind. Start with the grey square, coloured side up. Fold a strip on the left and the right behind, about an eighth of the width each.
- Helm: bottom behind. Fold a strip at the bottom behind, the same width as the side strips.
- Helm: corners behind. Fold both top corners behind on a slant, a third of the way along each edge.
- Helm: round it off. Fold the four new top corners behind a little, and the two bottom corners too.
- Plume: new sheet. Set the helm aside. Take the red square, white side up, like a diamond.
- Plume: make a kite. Fold the two lower edges in to lie along the middle, making a kite.
- Plume: top behind. Fold the white top point behind, along the line between the kite's side corners.
- Plume: round the top. Fold the two top corners behind a little, so the plume is soft and round on top.
- Glue on the helm. Glue the helm over the pointed bottom of the plume, so the red plume rises from the top.
Arise, brave knight!
Draw two visor slits, a ridge down the middle and a few breathing holes. Make a shield to go with it!
