How to fold an origami lightning bolt
Fold a yellow square into a narrow strip, point the ends, then fold it on a slant twice so it zigs and zags like a flash of lightning.
You need: A 15 cm square, yellow on one side. Easy, 7 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Edges to the middle. White side up. Fold the left and right edges in to meet in the middle.
- Fold in half. Fold the right half over onto the left half to make a long, narrow strip.
- In half again. Fold the left edge over onto the right edge to make the strip even thinner.
- Point the ends. Fold the top-left corner behind on a slant. Fold the bottom-left corner behind too, so the end comes to a sharp point.
- Zig. Fold the bottom part up and out to the right on a slant, creasing a little below the middle.
- Zag. A little way along, fold the end back down on the same slant, so it points down again.
- Tilt it. Tilt the bolt so the middle part lies flat and the point strikes down to the left.
