How to fold an origami scallop shell
Fold a kite and turn it over. Fold the top and shoulders behind into a round fan, tuck the point under, fold two little ears and draw the ribs.
You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm), coral or pink on one side, and a dark pen. Easy, 6 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the middle. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Make a kite. Fold the two lower edges in to lie along the middle crease.
- Turn it over. Flip it over, long point down.
- Round the top. Fold the top point behind 2.5 cm down. Fold the two side corners behind too, so the top is a round fan.
- Tuck the point. Fold the long bottom point up behind, on a crease 6.5 cm below the top of the fan.
- Fold the ears. Fold each bottom corner up and in on a short slanted crease. The two little flaps are the ears at the shell's hinge.
A shell for the beach!
Draw ribs fanning out from the hinge to the rim. Make a few in different colours and glue them along a card seashore.
