How to fold an origami lion face
Two sheets: a small triangle face with round ears and a white muzzle, and a big square folded into an eight-point mane. Glue the face in the middle of the mane.
You need: 2 squares: golden 10 × 10 cm for the face, orange 15 × 15 cm for the mane, and a glue stick. Easy, 10 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Face: make a triangle. Start with the small square for the face. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.
- Face: ears up. Fold the left and right corners up on steep lines that start a finger's width in from each corner, so their points just peek above the top edge as ears.
- Face: blunt the ears. Fold the tip of each ear down, so the ears are short and blunt.
- Face: white muzzle. Fold just the front layer's bottom point up, so a white triangle shows.
- Face: flat chin. Fold the back layer's point behind, along the same line.
- Mane: new sheet. Set the face aside. Take the big orange square, white side up.
- Mane: corners in. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
- Mane: points out. Fold each point back out on a line about a quarter of the way in from the outer edge, so its tip pokes past the edge.
- Mane: turn it over. Flip the mane over: eight orange points all round.
- Glue on the face. Glue the face in the middle of the mane.
Roar!
Draw two eyes, a dark nose on the white muzzle and a little mouth.
