How to fold an origami monster truck

Fold a red half sheet into a small truck body, then fold two big black squares into chunky wheels and glue the body up on top of them.

You need: Half a 15 cm square, red on one side, two 10 cm black squares, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 11 steps, about 12 minutes.

Steps

  1. Body: fold the bottom behind. Lay the half sheet red side up, long side across. Fold the bottom strip behind, almost half way up.
  2. Body: slope the cab. Fold the two top corners behind on a slant: a long slope at the front (right) for the windscreen, a shorter one at the back.
  3. Wheel 1: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take a black square, white side up.
  4. Wheel 1: corners in. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
  5. Wheel 1: hub. Fold each point back out a little, so a white square shows in the middle: the hub.
  6. Wheel 1: round it. Fold the four points of the square behind, so the wheel looks round.
  7. Wheel 2: new sheet. Set the first wheel aside and take the other black square, white side up.
  8. Wheel 2: corners in. Fold all four corners in to the middle.
  9. Wheel 2: hub. Fold each point back out a little for the hub.
  10. Wheel 2: round it. Fold the four points behind to round it off.
  11. Put it on its wheels. Glue the wheels on the bottom of the body, one at each end, so the body rides high above their middles.

Crush it!

Draw the windows, a door seam and a white flash on the body, and knobbly tread blocks all round both tyres.
