How to fold an origami sitting mouse
A mouse in the classic two-piece style: a triangle body, a head with big round ears and a pointy snout, and a thin folded strip for the tail.
You need: 3 square sheets, 15 x 15 cm, grey on one side (one is for a thin strip), scissors, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 14 steps, about 12 minutes.
Steps
- Body: triangle. Start with the body. White side up, like a diamond, fold the bottom corner up to the top corner.
- Body: round the hips. Fold the two wide bottom corners behind, about 2.5 cm, so the body is plump and round.
- Tail: a strip. Set the body aside. Cut a 2.5 cm wide strip from a third square, and lay it white side up, long side across.
- Tail: thin. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, top edge down to the bottom edge, so it's a long thin tail.
- Tail: curl. Fold the right end up on a slant, about 4 cm from the end, so the tip of the tail bends up.
- Head: new sheet. Set the tail aside. Take another square for the head, white side up, like a diamond.
- Head: triangle. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.
- Head: corners down. Fold the left and right corners down to meet the bottom point.
- Head: ears out. Fold each flap back up on a line from its outer corner to the middle, a little below the top, so its point sticks up and out.
- Head: blunt the ears. Fold the tip of each ear behind, about 1 cm, and fold the top point of the head behind just above where the ears cross.
- Head: round ears. Fold the two corners at the end of each ear behind a little, so the big ears look round.
- Head: snout. Fold each side in on a line from the bottom point to where the ear meets the head, so the face ends in a narrow snout.
- Head: turn over. Flip the head over.
- Glue on the head. Glue the body's top point behind the head's chin, and tuck the end of the tail behind the body so it pokes out to the right.
Squeak!
Draw two eyes and a nose on the tip of the snout.
