How to fold an origami mug
Fold a square into a chunky mug with a white rim, bend a strip into a square handle and glue it on the side. Draw steam rising from the top.
You need: A 15 cm square and a 4 x 14 cm strip of the same paper, coloured on one side, and a glue stick. Easy, 9 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Mug: white rim. Coloured side up. Fold the top edge down by a thin strip, about 1.5 cm. The white strip is the rim.
- Mug: sides behind. Fold the left and right edges behind, about 2.5 cm each.
- Mug: bottom behind. Fold the bottom edge behind, about 4 cm, so the mug is short and chunky.
- Mug: round the bottom. Fold the two bottom corners behind a little.
- Handle: new strip. Set the mug aside. Take the strip, white side up, lying across.
- Handle: fold in half. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, top edge down to the bottom edge.
- Handle: bend down. A third of the way along, fold the right part straight down on a slant.
- Handle: bend back. About 5 cm lower, fold the end to the left on a slant. The handle is a square loop.
- Glue on the handle. Glue the two ends of the handle behind the right side of the mug, the loop sticking out.
Cuppa time!
Draw three wavy lines of steam rising from the rim. Write a name on it for a sweet card.
