How to fold an origami flapping owlet
Fold the top and bottom of a brown square over for the head and feet and roll the sides in as strips. Snip them free and swing them up as raised wings.
You need: 1 square sheet (15 cm), brown on one side and white on the other, scissors, a black pen and a white pen. Medium, 6 steps, about 9 minutes.
Steps
- Head and feet. White side up, fold the top edge down about 3.5 cm for the head and the bottom edge up about 1.5 cm for the feet.
- Roll the sides. Fold the left and right edges in about 1.5 cm.
- Roll again. Fold them in once more, so each side is a thick brown strip.
- Snip the wings free. Snip along the outer fold of each strip from the bottom edge up to the bottom of the head.
- Wings up. Fold each loose strip up and out on a slant from the inner end of the snip, so it rises beside the head as a wing.
- Round the tummy. Fold the two bottom corners of the body behind, about 1.5 cm, so the tummy is round.
Hoot!
Draw two big white eyes with dark middles, a little dark beak, and V-shaped feathers on the white tummy.
