How to fold an origami police car

Fold a blue half square so a white band shows along the bottom, then slope the cabin. Add a red and a blue light on the roof and two black wheels.

You need: Half a 15 cm blue square, a 1.5 cm red square, a 1.5 cm blue square, two 4 cm black squares, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 16 steps, about 15 minutes.

Steps

  1. Body: white band. Start with the blue half square, blue side up, long edge at the bottom. Fold the bottom quarter up in front, so it shows white.
  2. Body: slope the cabin. Fold the two top corners behind on a slant: a long slope at the front (right) for the bonnet and windscreen, a shorter one at the back.
  3. Body: round the bumpers. Fold the two bottom corners behind, just a little, so the bumpers look round.
  4. Red light: new sheet. Set the body aside. Take the small red square, red side up.
  5. Red light: round the top. Fold the two top corners a little way behind, so the light has a round top.
  6. Blue light: new sheet. Set the red light aside. Take the small blue square, blue side up.
  7. Blue light: round the top. Round its top the same way: fold the two top corners a little way behind.
  8. Wheel 1: new sheet. Set the blue light aside. Take a small black square, white side up.
  9. Wheel 1: corners in. Fold all four corners in to meet in the middle.
  10. Wheel 1: hubcap. Fold each point back out a little, so a small white square shows in the middle. That's the hubcap.
  11. Wheel 1: round it. Fold the four points of the square a little way behind, so the wheel looks round.
  12. Wheel 2: new sheet. Set the first wheel aside and take the other black square, white side up.
  13. Wheel 2: corners in. Fold all four corners in to the middle.
  14. Wheel 2: hubcap. Fold each point back out a little for the hubcap.
  15. Wheel 2: round it. Fold the four points behind to round it off.
  16. Put the police car together. Glue the wheels on, half showing below. Glue the red and blue lights side by side behind the middle of the roof, so they poke up.
