How to fold an origami hopping rabbit
A kite folded in half makes a plump body. Snip the thin front point along its fold, swing up the two halves as ears with outside reverse folds, and tuck the back round.
You need: 1 brown or grey square (15 cm), small scissors and a black pen. Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the middle. White side up, turned like a diamond, fold the top corner down to the bottom corner, crease and unfold.
- Kite. Fold the top and bottom edges at the left end in to lie along the middle crease, like a kite. The left point is the ears.
- Fold in half. Fold the top half down onto the bottom half along the middle crease. The long fold on top is the back.
- Split the ears. Snip along the top fold of the thin left point, from its tip to about 5 cm in, so the front and back layers come apart.
- Front ear. Fold the front layer's point up and back on a slanted crease from the end of the snip. That's the front ear.
- Back ear. Fold the back layer's point up behind on a slightly steeper crease from the same spot, so the two ears stand apart.
- Tuck the back. Fold the right point behind on a slant, both layers together, and the bottom point behind too.
- Round the rump. Fold the new corner at the right behind on an upright crease, so the back end is round.
