How to fold an origami red envelope
Fold a red sheet into a tall packet with a pointed flap, then fold a gold square into a round coin and glue it where the flap closes. Tuck a wish inside.
You need: 1 red A4 or Letter sheet, a 6 cm gold square, a glue stick and a black pen. Medium, 7 steps, about 8 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in the sides. White side up, standing tall. Fold the left and right edges in so they overlap a little in the middle.
- Fold up the pocket. Fold the bottom edge up, folding about a fifth of the way up from the bottom.
- Point the top. Fold the two top corners behind with slanted folds, so the top ends in a point.
- Close the flap. Fold the pointed top down over the front, folding just below where the slanted edges start.
- Coin: new sheet. Set the packet aside. Take the gold square, gold side up, turned like a diamond.
- Coin: round it. Fold all four corners a little way behind, the same amount each, so the diamond turns into a round, eight-sided gold coin.
- Seal it. Glue the coin over the point of the flap to seal the packet.

Draw a square hole and a ring on the coin. Slip a wish or a coin inside for luck.
