How to fold an origami reindeer face

Fold the corners of a triangle down, snip them free and swing them up as two antlers. A few snips and one more fold give each antler a second prong, and the bottom point turns up as a white muzzle.

You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, brown on one side, and scissors. Medium, 9 steps, about 6 minutes.

Steps

  1. Make a triangle. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.
  2. Corners down. Fold the left and right corners down to meet the bottom point.
  3. Snip the corners. Cut along both slanted folds, from the outer corners a third of the way to the top centre.
  4. Antlers up. Fold each flap back up, creasing from the end of its cut to the middle line, so its point sticks up and out above the head.
  5. Turn it over. Flip it over so the smooth side of the head faces you.
  6. Snip the antlers. Cut each antler's folded inner edge open from the tip, about 3.5 cm. Then trim a slim wedge off its outer side, from the tip to near the inner end of its base.
  7. Fork the antlers. Fold the back layer of each antler behind, from the end of the cut to the end of the trim, so its tip pokes up on the inner side as a second prong.
  8. Fold the muzzle up. Fold just the front layer's bottom tip up, creasing about 2.5 cm above the point, to make a white muzzle.
  9. Tuck the back tip. Mountain-fold the back layer's tip behind along the same line, so the chin is flat.

Ho ho ho!

Draw two eyes, a big round nose on the white muzzle and a smile. Colour the nose bright red to light the way!
