How to fold an origami unicorn face

Fold the head from a pink square, white side out, with two pointed ears and a pink nose. A small gold square folds into a slim horn that pokes up from behind the head.

You need: 2 squares: pink 15 × 15 cm for the head, gold 7.5 × 7.5 cm for the horn, and a glue stick. Medium, 11 steps, about 8 minutes.

Steps

  1. Head: make a triangle. Start with the pink square, pink side up, turned like a diamond. Fold the top corner down to the bottom corner, so the white side shows.
  2. Head: corners down. Fold the left and right corners down so their points meet on the middle, a third of the way up from the bottom point.
  3. Head: ears up. Fold each flap back up from its outer corner, so its point stands straight up beside the flat top. These are the ears.
  4. Head: pink nose. Fold just the front layer's bottom tip up, about 2 cm, so a pink nose shows.
  5. Head: tuck the back tip. Mountain-fold the back layer's tip behind along the same line, so the chin is flat. The head is done.
  6. Horn: new sheet. Set the head aside. Take the small gold square, white side up, turned like a diamond.
  7. Horn: crease the diagonal. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
  8. Horn: make a kite. Fold the two upper edges in to lie along the centre crease.
  9. Horn: make it slim. Fold the two long slanted edges in to the centre crease again, so the top becomes a thin point.
  10. Horn: hide the white. Fold the white bottom point up behind, along the line between the two side corners.
  11. Glue on the head. Glue the head over the bottom of the horn, so the horn sticks up from the middle of the flat top, between the ears.

Magical!

Draw sleepy eyes with long lashes, a curly fringe under the horn, two curved nostrils on the nose, and stripes that wind round the horn.
