How to fold an origami scarf
A strip folds into a narrow stack so two snips at each end cut a whole fringe at once. Opened out and folded over on a slant, it hangs like a scarf on a hook.
You need: A strip about 5 cm by 20 cm, coloured on one side, scissors and a white pen. Medium, 8 steps, about 10 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Start coloured side up. Fold the strip in half lengthwise, the left half behind, so it's coloured on both sides.
- In half again. Fold the right edge over onto the left edge.
- And again. Fold the left edge over onto the right edge, to a very narrow stack. Crease hard.
- Snip the fringe. At each end, cut a long thin triangle off both corners, about 2 cm deep, leaving a tiny point in the middle.
- Open it out. Unfold the last fold.
- Open again. Unfold the next fold too. Each end now has a row of fringe.
- Hang it over. Fold the top half down across the middle on a slight slant, so the two fringed ends hang side by side, a little apart.
- Hang it straight. Turn it a little so both ends hang evenly.
Wrap up warm!
Draw two white stripes near each end. Loop it round a paper snowman or hang it on a peg.
