How to fold an origami sitting cat

Your first two-piece model. The head is the classic cat face; the body is a triangle with its corner folded up into a tail. Glue the head on the body's top point and draw the face.

You need: 2 square sheets the same size and colour, and a glue stick. Easy, 10 steps, about 6 minutes.

Steps

  1. Head: make a triangle. Start with the head. Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner.
  2. Head: fold the top down. Fold the top point down until it touches the middle of the bottom edge.
  3. Head: left ear up. Fold the bottom-left corner up so it points above the top edge.
  4. Head: right ear up. Fold the bottom-right corner up the same way.
  5. Head: turn it over. Flip the head over so the smooth side faces you. That's the first part done.
  6. Body: new sheet. Set the head aside. Take the second square, white side up, turned like a diamond.
  7. Body: make a triangle. Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner.
  8. Body: fold up the tail. Fold the right corner up at a slant, creasing from a little right of the middle of the bottom edge, so it sticks up past the side.
  9. Body: curl the tail. Fold the tip of the tail over towards the outside, so it hooks like a curl.
  10. Glue on the head. Dab glue on the body's top point and press the head on, so the point hides behind the cat's chin.

Meow!

Draw eyes, a nose and whiskers on the head.
