How to fold an origami sled
Fold a long red strip in half into a thin board, bend the front up in three small steps into a curl. Draw the slats, the runners and a tow rope.
You need: A 1 × 16 cm strip of paper, red on one side, and a black pen. Easy, 5 steps, about 5 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. Lay the strip white side up, long side across. Fold it in half the long way, bottom edge up to the top. Now it's a long, thin red board.
- Bend up the front. Fold the right end up on a gentle slant, about a quarter of the way in, so the front tilts up a little.
- Bend it more. A little further along, fold the tilted end up again on a steeper slant.
- Curl the tip. Fold the very tip up once more, so it leans back towards the sled. The front now curls round.
- Round the back. Fold the bottom-left corner behind, just a little, to round the back of the board.
Whoosh!
Draw slats on the board, little struts down to a runner that curls up round the front, a tow rope and some snow. Then pull it up the hill!
