How to fold an origami little tugboat
Fold the bottom behind for the hull and slope the top corners. Two pleats drop the top into a tall wheelhouse and then a funnel, and a slant lifts the bow.
You need: 1 sheet of A4 or Letter paper, red on one side, plus a white and a black pen. Easy, 7 steps, about 6 minutes.
Steps
- Hull bottom. Hold the sheet tall, red side up. Fold the bottom edge behind, a little over a quarter of the way up.
- Slope the top. Fold the top corners behind on slants: a steep one on the left, a long one on the right. Leave a narrow bit of the top edge.
- Wheelhouse. Fold the top behind along a level line about a quarter of the way up from the bottom.
- Step it up. Behind, fold it back up a little lower so the top peeks out with a step at each side. That's the wheelhouse on the hull.
- Funnel. Fold the top behind again, about halfway down the wheelhouse.
- Step it up. Behind, fold it back up a little lower so a narrow tip peeks out on top. That's the funnel.
- Lift the bow. Fold the bottom right corner behind on a slant, so the bow sweeps up at the front.
Toot toot!
Draw three white windows on the wheelhouse, a black band round the funnel top and a row of black tyres along the hull.
