How to fold an origami rearing snake
Fold a long strip in half the long way and taper both ends. Fold the front up as a neck and forward as the head, then flick the tail tip up.
You need: 1 long strip, about 4 × 32 cm, green on one side, and a black pen. Medium, 6 steps, about 7 minutes.
Steps
- Fold in half. White side up, fold the strip in half the long way, top edge down onto the bottom edge. Now it is a long thin green strip.
- Point the tail. At the right end, fold the bottom and top edges behind on long slants, so the tail tapers to a thin point.
- Point the head. At the left end, fold the two corners behind a little, so the head end is blunt and pointed.
- Neck up. About two fifths of the way from the left end, fold the strip up on a slant, all layers together, so the front stands up as the neck.
- Head forward. Near the top of the neck, fold the end down to the left on a slant, so the head points forward.
- Flick the tail. Fold the thin tail tip up on a slant, so it flicks up off the ground.
Hiss!
Draw a round eye on the head and a forked tongue flicking out of the tip.
