How to fold an origami easy swan
A kite folded skinnier on the back, folded in half, then the long point lifted into a neck and its tip bent down for the head. No reverse folds needed.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, black or grey on one side, and a white pen. Easy, 8 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the diagonal. White side up, like a diamond. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Make a kite. Fold the two lower edges in to lie along the centre crease.
- Turn it over. Flip the kite over, keeping the long point at the bottom.
- Skinny kite. Fold the two lower edges in to the centre line again, so the long point gets thin and sharp.
- Fold in half. Fold the left half behind the right half.
- Lay it down. Turn it so the fold is at the bottom and the long point aims right.
- Lift the neck. Fold the long point straight up on a slant, a little past the middle, so it stands tall as the neck.
- Bow the head. Fold the top 4 cm of the neck forward and down, so the tip points ahead like a beak.
Glide away!
Draw a small white eye on the head. Push the back up a little so your swan sits proud on the table.
