How to fold an origami little toucan
A kite folded at both ends into a long diamond, folded in half, then the top point swung forward into a huge beak. The bottom point is the tail.
You need: 1 square sheet, 15 × 15 cm, black on one side, and a white pen. Easy, 6 steps, about 4 minutes.
Steps
- Crease the diagonal. White side up, like a diamond. Fold the left corner to the right corner, crease, and unfold.
- Make a kite. Fold the two lower edges in to lie along the centre crease.
- Long diamond. Now fold the two upper edges in to the centre crease too, so both ends are long points.
- Fold in half. Fold the left half behind the right half.
- Swing the beak. Fold the top point forward and down on a slant, so it sticks far out to the right as a big beak.
- Perch it. Tilt it a little so the beak dips forward and the tail points down behind.
Big beak!
Draw a white eye with a dark middle at the base of the beak. Colour the beak bright if you like.
